Listed among global consumers’ favorite social media platforms, Twitter (now known as X) is undoubtedly one channel businesses should be marketing on. The latest Twitter statistics also show that there are over 350 million monthly active users, making the micro-blogging site a great platform for brands to increase their reach.

Number of Twitter users by country: top 10

  1. United States: 105.4 million
  2. Japan: 73.4 million
  3. India: 26.1 million
  4. United Kingdom: 25.6 million
  5. Indonesia: 24.7 million
  6. Brazil: 22.1 million
  7. Turkey: 20.7 million
  8. Mexico: 18.0 million
  9. France: 17.5 million
  10. Saudi Arabia: 16.8 million

According to a recent survey studying the number of Twitter users by country, the United States is home to the most users, with at least 105.4 million there. Incidentally, Twitter is also one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in the US

This is followed by Japan, with 73.4 million Twitter users. Together, there are over 175 million people in the US and Japan using Twitter on a regular basis.

Third on the list ranking the number of Twitter users by country is India, where there are 26.1 million Twitter users. Despite being third on the list, the number of Twitter users in India is relatively low, considering its population of 1.4 billion. The data on Twitter usage by country shows that Twitter’s reach in India is pretty insignificant. Its potential advertising reach is just 1.9% of the total population. In comparison, Twitter’s reach in the US is 30.9%—nearly around one out of every three people. In Japan, it’s a whopping 59.7%—more than half of the population.

This is followed by the United Kingdom, with 25.6 million, and Indonesia rounds out the top five, with 24.7 million Twitter users. 

Brazil is sixth on this list ranking the number of Twitter users by country. There are 22.1 million users of the microblogging site there. It is followed by Turkey and Mexico, with 20.7 million and 18 million, respectively. France and Saudi Arabia complete the top 10 list. There are 17.5 million Twitter users in France and 16.8 million in Saudi Arabia.

  3. Southeast Asia:: 11%
  4. West Asia: 8.7%
  5. West Europe & South America: 8% each

Given the vast population of Twitter users in the US, it should come as no surprise that North America is the region with the biggest share of Twitter users—19.4% of them are located there. 

East Asia and Southeast Asia follow, with 17.1% and 11% of Twitter users, respectively. In total, these three regions are home to nearly half of all Twitter users worldwide.
