How many people use Instagram in 2024?

A recent survey on Instagram’s user count shows that the figure is expected to hit 1.41 billion worldwide in 2024. This refers to internet users who access their Instagram accounts every month. 2024’s figure marks a 5.7% annual increase and a slowdown from the previous year’s growth rate.

The same data shows that the number of Instagram users worldwide has been growing in recent years. In 2019, there were 867.8 million active users, before a surge of 23.45% in 2020 pushed the figure past the 1 billion mark for the first time, hitting 1.07 billion. Another double-digit increase followed in 2021, as Instagram’s user count rose by 13.26%, to 1.21 billion.

The stark growths in 2020 and 2021 can be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in increased sign-ups across many social media networks.

In 2022, Instagram’s user growth slowed to 2.62% and rose to 1.25 billion. The following year, it surpassed 1.3 billion, after a 6.86% annual increase.
