How many people use TikTok in 2024?

Recent data shows that the number of users on TikTok has been increasing over the past few years. In 2024, this is forecast to hit 2.05 billion, marking a 6.7% increase from the previous year and exceeding 2 billion for the first time.

Despite the annual increase, it’s actually a slowdown in at least six years. In 2018, there were 347 million TikTok users in the world. This skyrocketed by 88.3% in 2019, to 653 million. In 2020, the number of TikTok users worldwide grew by 58.6%, to surpass the 1 billion milestone, before rising by another 35.8% in 2021, to 1.41 billion. Further increases of 22.2% and 11.7% followed in 2022 and 2023, which pushed the number of TikTok users upward to 1.72 billion and 1.92 billion, respectively.

From 2018 to 2024, TikTok grew its global user base by more than 1.7 billion—a six-fold increase marking an average annual growth rate of 37.2%.

The total number of users on TikTok is set to continue rising until at least 2029. However, growth is forecast to slow. In 2025, this is expected to rise by 4.2%, which will bring the number of TikTok users worldwide to 2.14 million. From 2026 to 2029, experts anticipate annual increases of the number of TikTok users at under 3%, which will bring the figure to 2.35 billion by 2029.

Over the entire forecast period of 2018 to 2029, the number of people using TikTok worldwide is expected to rise by more than 2 billion. This represents an average annual growth rate of 21.6%.
