When running an online business, website design is one of the more important things to get right. There are plenty of other business tips and tricks readily available for you. But, in this article, we’ll go over eCommerce website design. I found 30 great eCommerce businesses built on Shopify. You’ll soon notice the key for all of the eCommerce website designs shown here is the photography. Photos play a big and important role in any website that is trying to sell products online. Let’s check out each of these designs, one by one.

1. Hebe Boutique

Hebe’s website is beautiful and well designed. The thing that stands out the most is the great photography. High-quality photos are important when running an online eCommerce business. However, their typography is great too. The font is just a little bit thicker than you usually see online. It makes website design stand out even further.

2. Ticklers

This eCommerce website design is made up of really nice colours. They didn’t go for the standard white background. It’s a nice touch that differentiates their website. Additionally, they have amazing photography. The big photo atop their homepage is called a lifestyle shot. It shows off the product in a realistic setting.

3. Dress Up

Dress Up sells clothing online. It’s no wonder their eCommerce website design is filled with photos of beautifully dressed women. Their homepage is filled with various promotions such as free shipping, a few sales and a promotion.

4. Ada Blackjack

Ada Blackjack sells various bags and backpacks. Their eCommerce website design is unique in that it is simple. There is little going on except high-quality photos of their bags. It’s an advantage when an online store is simple to browse through.

5. AMBSN

Here we have another online clothing store. There are a bunch of these on this list actually. The store is filled with colourful patterns on their jackets, shorts and t-shirts. So it’s no wonder their eCommerce website design is filled with big bold colours too.

6. RYDER

The reason Ryder is on the list is their strange take on eCommerce website design. Their home page is not what most online stores look like. That’s a good thing, their web design is creative. Creativity helps stores stand out. Doing something a little different can help your bottom line a lot.

7. Morepork

Moreporks’s home page focuses a lot more on the company than their goods. They talk about quality and pride instead of the latest sale or promotion. It’s an interesting tactic you should try out and test. If it works for you too that’s great news! If not, at least you learned how to optimise your eCommerce website design better.

8. Dick Moby

Dick Moby sells glasses. Their eCommerce website design is filled with great design elements. The first are the fun patterns and squiggles you see at the top of their home page. The second is the quality photos of their glasses. Notice that the glasses are alone without anything in the background. That lets the product stand out.

9. The Horse

I like the eCommerce website design of the Horse because it’s atypical. Here is what I mean, the first thing you see on their homepage is a big green square promoting free shipping. Next, you see two more squares with Instagram photos of their products. That’s different. That’s interesting.

The eCommerce website design of ESQIDO focuses on the beauty of their lashes. It’s made up of close up photos of the product and its packaging.

12. Poketo

Poketo uses vibrant colours to their advantage. They do not shy from throwing in great colour around. But notice that their overall eCommerce website design is pretty light in general. The bright colours are small accents.

13. Jackie Smith

Jackie Smith is another example of eCommerce website design that uses bright colours. The colours are contained to just photos of their colourful bags and promotions. Everything else is black and white. The balance here is good.

14. Grovemade

Grovemade relies heavily on lifestyle shots of their products. They are beautiful photos of their wooden accessories on desks and tables. The composition of the photos is great. Did you notice their fun font too? It’s rounded which is not the typical font you see on most websites.

15. Muroexe

The layout of shoe products on Muroexe is great. The shoes are aligned in a neat grid making browsing easy. There is a lot of whitespace, which is the empty space or padding around the photos.

16. Greycork

The header of Greyrock is great! It’s a single photo of their furniture in a living room with a woman enjoying a book. It’s simple and to the point. On top of the photo, there is text “Take it easy.” it perfectly expresses the ambience of the photo and therefore of their product.

Helbak is one of my favourite eCommerce website designs. Their products are beautiful and clean. Their design uses colour and white space to show off their beautiful products.

The thing about Molly Jogger’s website is simplicity. There is nothing fancy going on here. But the products are easy to browse and easy to digest.

19. Morning Ritual

I’d call the eCommerce website design of Morning Ritual simple. There aren’t many photos of products to distract you. There is a lot of clean black and white contrasts happening throughout. The photos of the products are high-quality too. The eCommerce website design is easy on the visitor.

20. THING IND.

THING IND. is a lot of fun. They use big typography to draw you in. Their typography is navy instead of black too. The products they sell are hilarious and their eCommerce website design reflects this. They do not take themselves seriously.

21. Soap Co

Soap Co. uses their pretty product design to let their products sell themselves. Did you notice the lack of advertisements or decorations? This is a perfect example of minimal design.

22. RSVP

This eCommerce website design is busy. There is a lot going on at every corner of the web page. Literally. But it’s part of the experience of the company.

23. Ratio

Ratio is using eCommerce website design to show their customers they are selling a high-end product. Their coffee products have their own pages explaining their brilliance. The eCommerce website design is filled with good use of photography, colour, typography and whitespace.

Frank Body is all about modern beauty. Their eCommerce website design caters to a fun and young audience. You can see this through their use of a monotype font and pastel colours.

25. Rest.

Rest. sells wooden desk accessories. They are handcrafted and stunning. Naturally, the eCommerce website design for Rest is based on lifestyle shots of their products on desks. The product pages include well-designed details of the product, and how great it would look if you bought all three of them.

26. The Letter J

The Letter J sells typographical products such as prints and iPhone cases. They have a unique take on photos of their products. The prints are leaning against different coloured pieces of paper. It’s different therefore interesting.

27. 100% Pure

100% Pure does not have a fancy website. I wanted to include a less dramatic example to show you that you don’t need to be overly creative to have a good looking website. It’s okay to start simple as long as your website is easy to navigate – just like 100% Pure.

28. All Birds

The thing I like about All Birds is the action shots of their shoes. It’s so much different than most shoe photos you see. Here they are flying with their laces all over the place. It’s different. It’s nice. It’s really funny actually.

29. Oi Polloi

Oi Polloi is another one of my favourites from this list. Their home page is minimal but it’s also fun. Minimal does not need to mean cold. They use giant photos of their products on a coloured background. They also use a fun custom font face to tie it all together.

30. P&Co

The reason P&Co is on this list is their attention to product detail. They show off so many different angles of their t-shirts. They have a lot of different specs for the item too. That is just as important as having a great eCommerce website design too.

  • Fantastic list. I want to change typography of my website like Thing IND and appearance of photos in an e-commerce site. Thank you once again for sharing excellent examples of website design.
