Recent statistics on men’s online shopping habits show that products in the clothing and shoes category top the list of items they acquire the most over the internet. As many as 51% of male shoppers worldwide say they shop online for products in this category.
This is one key statistic to keep in mind if you’re thinking about starting an ecommerce business in this niche. If you’re an existing ecommerce store owner whose business targets male shoppers, you might want to consider expanding into fashion products to boost sales. Coupled with the fact that the global apparel market size is set to hit $1.74 billion this year, it seems like a lucrative opportunity.
The second-biggest online shopping category for men is electronics. Just under half of male shoppers (49%) say they purchase electronic goods online. Incidentally, recent consumer electronics industry statistics show that the sector is forecast to hit $666 billion in revenue in 2023, a 22.4% annual increase.
Entertainment ranks next, at 44%. In other words, over two in five men purchase products related to entertainment digitally.

Products related to leisure, sport, and hobby are also commonly bought online by men—36% of them say they purchase these items over the internet.
Groceries rank next. Just under one in three male shoppers (30%) buy groceries online. In comparison, just 23% of women buy groceries online. This is followed by beauty products, purchased online by 29% of male consumers.
What do men buy online the most: other top categories
Other top categories of products men acquire online include those related to pharmaceutics and automobile parts. 27% of men say they buy items related to these two categories online.
Children’s products and home and garden items follow, with 25% and 22%, respectively. Children’s products are also shopped for by men online, with one in five (20%) of them doing so—compared to 23% for women.
