As many as 80.6% of internet users there are active on Instagram, using it at least once a month, and 37.9% of them say it’s their favorite social media platform. This is also evident in the amount of time Instagram users in India spend on the app. At 19 hours and 50 minutes per month, this averages out to around 40 minutes per day.
India holds a strong lead over the United States, which ranks next. The number of Instagram users in the US is currently 168.8 million. Despite being in second place, the difference in the number of Instagram users in the US and India is pretty large. The two countries are separated by around 200 million users, which amounts to more than the total number of Instagram users in the US.
After India and the US is Brazil, with 137.2 million Instagram users. Together, these three countries topping the list ranking Instagram users by country are home to nearly 700 million Instagram users. Fourth on the list is Indonesia. There are 102.2 million Instagram users there. India, the US, Brazil, and Indonesia are the only countries on the list with over 100 million Instagram users. Turkey follows in fifth place, with 57.8 million Instagram users.
With 55.8 million and marginally fewer than Turkey, Japan has the sixth-biggest number of Instagram users. It is followed by Mexico and the United Kingdom, with 46.4 million and 33.3 million, respectively. Germany and Argentina complete the list ranking Instagram users by country. There are 30.6 million Instagram users in Germany and 28.3 million in Argentina.
